Finishing the Garden

Stone & Mulch

Clarke’s has a very large selection of bulk-decorative stone, types of mulch, kinds of flagstone, and a large selection of small to jumbo boulders.  You won’t find more varieties in one place.  If you’re looking for something unique for your landscape, we are the place to find it!

Keep in mind that all monitors are different so the color will never be absolutely representative of the actual color. The best is to come by and take a drive in the stone yard – yes you can drive through as well as walk through. Do be cautious of the machinery in that area though.  We are often loading trucks in the Stone Yard.

"The first human who hurled an insult instead of a stone was the founder of civilization."

Sigmund Freud

Measuring

Our landscape stone and mulch is sold by the cubic yard.  A cubic yard covers approximately 100 sq feet.  The larger the stone, the less square footage, the smaller the stone, the more square footage it will cover.

To figure out how much to order – measure the length (in feet) & width( in feet) of the area you want to fill with material, then divide by 100.

For example, if your area is 10 ft by 12 foot, 10 x 12 = 120/100 =1.2 cubic yards.  If your stone/mulch material is small, order 1 cubic yard, if the stone/mulch is a larger size, then order 1.5 cubic yards.

Still Unsure?  Give us a call!  We are happy to help you figure out how much material to order.  Or come on by and bring a picture.  Either way, don’t forget to measure!

A rock is any naturally occurring solid mass or aggregate of minerals or mineraloid matter. It is categorized by the minerals included, its chemical composition and the way in which it is formed. Rocks are usually grouped into three main groups: igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks and sedimentary rocks. Rocks form the Earth's outer solid layer, the crust.
